VOLUNTEER AT merriwether Middle SCHOOL
Are you interested in volunteering at Merriwether Middle School? We have a variety of volunteer opportunities and would be thrilled to have you join us!
The safety and security of all MMS students and staff is our primary concern. To maintain the fidelity of our safety and security protocols, participation in volunteer training and a National Sex Offender Registry Check is required of all school visitors and volunteers. In addition to participation in the sex offender registry check, a Criminal Background Screening is required of all Class B volunteers.
Volunteer training, the National Sex Offender Registry Check, and the Criminal Background Screening are available at no cost to all interested volunteers and must be completed on an annual basis.
CLASS A VOLUNTEER
A Class A volunteer is defined as an individual who will be supervised by school personnel at all times while in contact with students. Examples of Class A volunteer opportunities might include, but are not limited to:
● Class parent or classroom tutor
● Lunch buddy
● Reading buddy
● Front office volunteer
● Organizing parents for special projects
● Lecturing on special topics
CLASS B VOLUNTEER
A Class B volunteer is defined as an individual who will assist in settings that may not be supervised by school personnel at all times. Examples of Class B volunteer opportunities might include, but are not limited to:
● Field Trip chaperones
● Coaching/Club assistants
● On-site tutoring provided outside of the classroom
● Mentors
● Overnight event chaperones
To begin or continue your journey as a Merriwether Middle School volunteer, please complete the Volunteer Application and submit it via email or in person to our school’s volunteer coordinator (Listed Below)
