Important Health News for the New School Year

Medications -

If your child needs emergency medication (EpiPen, inhaler, diastat, insulin) or daily medication for other diagnoses (ADHD, diabetes, etc) for next year, we must have an updated, written doctor’s order and parental permission form on record in the Health Room. I hope this early information will offer you the opportunity to obtain the written orders from your child’s doctor if he/she has an appointment during the summer.

We will have over-the-counter medication for general discomforts and first aid in the health room available for next year. You may fill out a permission form for these medications when you register your child online, or you may fill out a written form that you can obtain from me at the beginning of next year.

Please contact me, Mrs. Hilliard, if you would like prescription medication or over-the-counter medication permission forms to have for your doctor visits over the summer

Immunizations— News for upcoming 7th graders

Please remember that all 7th and 8th graders are required to have an updated “Tdap” vaccination. Please check your child’s records and make sure he/she has received this vaccine, and if so please send an updated S. C. Immunization Certificate to me as soon as possible. All Immunization Certificates are required to be updated within the first 30 calendar days of school, so the deadline for these updated records will be September 18. If your child is non-compliant, letters will be sent home at the beginning of the school year.

I wish everyone a safe and restful summer!

Theda Hilliard, RN
